Everyone has a camera; it may be a phone, a point-and-shoot model or an expensive DLR. Come along and learn how to make the most of your equipment and all those photo opportunities.
This group will offer members support so they can experiment with any camera and learn about composition. Photographic software will be available and members will be encouraged to develop more technical skills.

Meetings were held monthly in Ceddesfeld Hall in 2023-4, along with occasional visits. This year's visits have included Shildon Railway Museum, Greatham Church to photograph the snowdrop display, and Hardwick Park.
Recently, we have been focussing on two aspects of photography : (a) Better understanding of camera functions (exposure settings, metering modes, focal lengths etc.)
(b) Improved editing of images using various techniques (layers, masks, dodging and burning etc.).
In a collaboration with the Creative Writing group, some of our photographs were used to illustrate their book , Around the Village Pump, a collection of stories about Sedgefield. We were also delighted to be asked to provide a series of photographs which were used in a display on the Visitor Centre at Hardwick Park to advertise and promote their pageant about the history of the site.
With the help of some U3A funding, we successfully staged a display of the group's work for last year's Christmas party and were delighted when several photographs were purchased.
Several of the group's photographs have also been used throughout this website, and please click here to see further examples of members' work. The Group mounted an exhibition of their latest work at our Christmas Party in 2024 when a number were sold to other members. see that exhibition here.

This Group meets in the Oldham Room of Ceddesfeld Hall during the morning of the second Friday of each month. however, please note that there is no meeting in August The December meeting will be an exhibition of our photographs at the u3a Christmas Party on 5th December in the Parish Hall, when some of them will be for sale. An ideal Christmas present for that hard-to-buy-for person on your list?
